Let Us Not Grow Weary

Perseverance is the work that takes place after you grow weary from the hard work you've already completed.

We are so weary. All of the IG/ FB posts show a beautiful home being built but it doesn't show what happens when we are so exhausted we have to beat our bodies (and minds) to push through hard. It doesn't show the 5 am alarm clock and the sore muscles and my husband dragging himself out of bed to go to another 10 hour work day. It doesn't show me trying to work as hard as I can at the new house, running all over town and all the surrounding areas trying to find the materials we need and then running back to our current home to feed my family and keep up w the laundry, the house & schooling. It shows a beautiful dream but like much of life on social media, you are seeing the highlight reel. No one wants to show the hard.

This beautiful journey has taken so much out of all of us. My husband especially. He wakes up and goes to work before the sun comes up and when he comes home he goes straight to the new house to get it finished. He is not a contractor and he has run into many things that he just doesn't know how to do but somehow he gets advice and just does the thing. It's pretty impressive. Also, he is a perfectionist so I am confident he does it all better than most. He is exhausted and I am exhausted. Our kids are sharing a room. Our four kids. And they are so patient and rarely complain but our teen daughter is ready for her own space.

Romans 5:3-5
"We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, character produces hope and hope will not put us ashamed., because God poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us."
I wrote that from memory so it is possibly missing a few words, definitely missing some punctuation but it is such an encouragement to me. I'm thankful for the time spent memorizing that and that God's Word is living and active and provides hope when we feel weary and despair.

The beauty of all of this is that we will all be grateful for what we have. Our dream home is OURS. This home will literally have our blood, sweat & tears soaked into it's foundation. It's not a mansion and some things have turned out different than we thought but in the end, it will be ours. So often through this journey I have felt like the Israelites wandering through the desert. Our home will be our Canaan and we will see the glory of the Lord in every detail. WE will tell of the good things He has done for us. We are camped outside the promiseland and we are facing the giants of discouragement, fatigue, dauting tasks and a seemingly never ending list of little things that still need to be completed. We know our God is bigger and will carry us through. We will endeavor to persevere.

If you think of us today, we would appreciate your prayers.
Thank you for reading.
Grace & peace,
Adoring Family
